Green TD Steven Matthews has welcomed the announcement of €3 million to investment in Ballywaltrim library in Bray. The funding has been ringfenced to deliver a state of the art, 2 storey expanded and improved library which will include a dedicated space for teenagers, work hubs, computer study areas and related services provided by our dedicated librarians in County Wicklow.
Commenting on the funding announcement, Deputy Matthews said:

“I am delighted to support this big investment in Ballywaltrim library in Bray. Our libraries are so much more than books, they offer such a range of services, information, access to education and are a wonderful community resource.
“The need to upgrade the existing library is something that has been raised with me by local residents previously, so it is hugely rewarding to see this funding for this project.
“Libraries around Wicklow play an invaluable role in the lives of people, particularly families, encouraging engagement with reading and creativity in a convenient and accessible manner. It is particularly welcome to see young people being put at the core of this announcement and I expect this library will be an ideal place for students of all ages to study.
“None of this would be possible without the work that librarians and support staff of libraries across Wicklow do for our community and I hope they know how valued a role they play.
“If you haven’t visited your library in recent years, I’d really encourage you to pop in an take a look at the range of services and facilities available. You’ll pop in for 10 minutes and still be there an hour later”, concluded Deputy Matthews.
