Baltinglass is becoming known as “Ireland’s Hillfort Capital” after the discovery of vast ancient hillfort complexes in Baltinglass hills. This complex is likely one of the most influential archaeological sites in the country, putting it in the same category as the Hill of Tara and Newgrange. It is vital that we appreciate and also protect our historical landmarks which we are fortunate to have an abundance of in Wicklow. I look forward to being able to learn more about this hugely significant area soon.
