Green TD Steven Matthews is encouraging community groups in Wicklow to apply for funding to support their work in promoting climate action. The Climate Action Works Fund will provide grants of up to €10,000 to voluntary organisations seeking to raise awareness of climate change. Speaking following the announcement of this funding, Deputy Matthews said:
“Many community organisations are leading on climate action in Wicklow. I have met with many local groups across our county that are passionate about addressing the root causes of climate change. This Fund will support these groups by providing funding for event organisation, climate advocacy, social media campaigns and the development of educational materials.
“I would encourage all community groups in Wicklow to consider applying for this funding, whether or not you have previous experience in this area. Community organisations have an important role to play in encouraging people to come together and work towards a more sustainable future where we can reach net-zero emissions.
“While many people are very concerned about climate change, there is often uncertainty about where to start when it comes to making changes in our own lives. The Climate Action Works Fund aims to support local groups to start a conversation on climate change in their local communities. If any group has any questions in relation to this Fund, please drop me an email and I will provide any assistance that I can,” Deputy Matthews concluded.
The Climate Action Works Fund is open for applications until October 4th. More information can be found online at www.gov.ie/climateactionswork.
