Matthews Urges Action to Protect Water Supplies

The Citizens' Assembly on Biodiversity and the EPA's annual drinking water report have emphasized the need to protect our freshwater resources in Ireland. The report of the Citizen's Assembly, which was made up of 99 citizens from across all sectors of society, highlights that many of our rivers, streams and lakes are in poor condition. We need urgent action on this issue to restore biodiversity in our freshwater systems, improve the quality of our water supplies and protect public health. The recommendations of the Citizen's Assembly on Biodiversity must be implemented without delay.
