Matthews Welcomes Funding for Garryhoe Trail Improvement

Green TD Steven Matthews has welcomed the €9,400 funding for the Garryhoe Trail in the Wicklow Way under the Our Rural Future ‘Walks Scheme announced recently. The funding will go directly on resurfacing works and the installation of drainage on this section of the trail.

Discussing the funding, Deputy Matthews said:

“The Wicklow Way is an incredible asset for our county, and I am delighted to see this investment come through. Regular walkers and tourists had previously flagged this section of the Wicklow Way as having drainage issue in bad weather and the days following so it is welcome to see the money being put towards resolving that.

It is vital that we maintain consistent investment in the Wicklow Way, and I will continue to work with Wicklow County Council to ensure greater funding is allocated under future Departmental schemes,” concluded Deputy Matthews.
