Matthews Welcomes Funding for Health Service Facilities in Wicklow

Green TD Steven Matthews has welcomed the latest round of funding for Wicklow projects under this year’s HSE Capital Plan recently announced by the Department of Health. Projects which have received funding include the development of six single en-suite bedrooms for Baltinglass Community Hospital and the reconfiguration of Bray Civic Centre to create a new Enhanced Community Care hub.

Speaking after the funding announcement, Deputy Matthews said:

“This funding announced by the Department of Health represents the latest step in the Governments commitment to improving health facilities in Wicklow and around the country. The last few years in particular have shown us all the incredible work which our health services carry out and the invaluable role which they play in ensuring that our communities thrive. Since my time on the council and more recently in my capacity as TD for Wicklow, I have had the privilege of seeing this incredible work first hand. It is abundantly clear that the support of our healthcare workers through the expansion of funding to these sectors must be prioritised.

“This relatively small funding stream comes as part of a wider plan for the improvement of health facilities in Wicklow which I am working closely with the HSE to deliver in the near future. These plans include the provision of comprehensive health facilities to CH06 and CH07 as well as the transfer of disused HSE buildings to the council for community use which I continuously engaging with Wicklow County Council and the HSE to get over the line”, Deputy Matthews concluded.
